The giver sequel: The continuation of the story of the giver

My position paper: This is my position paper that talks about a topic of biological weapons.

Delegate: Daniel Hernandez
School: Colegio Ingles
Committee: UNODA
Country: Nigeria
Topic a: Developing strategies for disease surveillance, preparedness, response, and assistance in case of alleged use of biological weapons

Biological weapons are toxic materials produced from microbes or toxic substances that are used on purpose to interfere with the biological process of a person, animal or vegetation. These substances work to kill or disable a person, animal or vegetation. They also contaminate nonliving organisms such as air water and soil. These weapons are very dangerous and cause serious damage in a whole city since they are nuclear. It’s important to prevent an attack since they can cause a lot of damage in a city. An example of a biological agent that can be introduced into a nuclear weapon is the small pox. The small pox is contagious caused by infection with a virus known as the variola virus. This and many more diseases can be placed on a biological weapon to cause destruction.

Nigeria is one of the many countries whose government has joined the Biological Weapons Convention. We have the human resources and the capacity to collaborate to this cause in what we can. As a country whose in the Biological weapons convention, we lack the technology to keep record of the diseases, data, as well as the facilities to keep the investigations. We are working on our technology and our facility issues so we can improve our work.

My delegation suggests that, in order to achieve a full complement of preparation response for biological issues, all countries should be equally equipped or assisted with the technology and personnel. This means that, my delegation as well as other countries should be up to the challenge. My delegation believes that there’s nothing to do, productively speaking, if we have enough resources. So we encourage countries like the United States or countries with money, to supply equipment for the countries that have no good equipment. Once we have this established, one possible solution would be to provide the security equipment with the best technology in the market to all of the countries signed to this challenge. In case of an attack, personnel should be trained to take the best security precautions for the case, so my delegation proposes special training camps for the personnel so that they can be ready when the worse comes. Training camps should include a special preparation for weapon disarmament, medical first aid instructions, among others.

My prezi presentation: this presentation shows the information of my committee and what they have done.
